Doctor and Grandpa

Today Ellie went to the doc for a non-regular visit. Last night we noticed something poking out of her belly button, like a new piece of skin. We called the nurse this morning and she asked us to come in stating that it could be an umbilical hernia. Fortunately, that isn't what it was. Its an umbilical granuloma - when they cut the umbilical cord it usually just dries up and falls off. However, occasionally a new piece tissue develops on the stump of the cord - that's all this was. The doc used some silver nitrate to help dry up the tissue and it should fall off later this week! We were sure glad that it wasn't a hernia or anything worse. On a side note of her visit, she weighed 8.3 lbs. with her diaper on - we figure she's about 8 lbs. without it. Growing so big!

Tonight Grandpa is in town before he flies out of Sea-Tac for Montreal, Canada. He's headed there for work - seems to be going about 1 time a month these days. The nice part about it is that we got to have dinner together.

  1. Glad everything is good, but a little jealous I'm not there to hold her too:( She looks pretty comfy in grandpa's arm:)
