Ryan is One Month Old!

Well time flies! Tuesday marked Ryan's one month 'birthday.' Hard to believe.

Not only did Tuesday mark his one month, but it also marked his first x-ray and trip to the emergency room/hospital. Over the weekend Ryan developed a few cold symptoms which Monday progressed into a nasty cough. By Tuesday he was struggling to eat due to major congestion. We made a trip to the clinic where the ARNP did a chest x-ray (which came back negative), but our Pediatrician reviewed the results with us and recommended we go to the Children's Emergency Room at Sacred Heart. We had a great doctor there who decided against keeping us there, but did test and diagnose Ryan with RSV. It's slightly concerning since he's so young, but we've got an agressive plan to manage symptoms. We're using a humidifier, nebulizer with albuterol (every 4 hours for 3 days), Afrin for nasal inflammation (2 times a day for 3 days), and agressive saline and suctioning of his nose. We're 5 days in it now and the doctor said it generally takes 10-14 days to resolve.
