Well apparently we've been MIA for a few months and a busy couple at that! After the trip to North Dakota, both Jared and I got busy at work and trying to keep up at home.
In mid August, I made a trip to Seattle for our annual "People Team" meeting for work which is always so much fun to connect personally with people that I talk with almost daily across our 22 offices, but really only see this one time a year.
Meanwhile, Jared made the first of two trips to Texas in a 2-3 week span - the first one for a project. Labor Day weekend was spent at home in Spokane, meant to be a relaxed weekend with Nick visiting from Pullman and Jared's parents up to hang out as well. But on the way to dinner Friday at 6pm we got hit by another vehicle 3 blocks from home. Fortunately we were all ok, but the truck was not drivable. It spent the next 27 days in the repair shop. Longest few weeks ever - several rental cars later, we were glad to have our own vehicle back - the kids were too!
The next weekend Jared headed out for his second of the trips to Texas for a vendor sponsored training. He stayed at the most amazing looking resort called the Gaylord Texan. It is the official hotel of the Dallas Cowboys and the weekend he was there was a home game so it was packed! That was also the weekend of Mariah and Nate's wedding (Jared's cousin). I was providing wedding coordinator services and also helped with flower arrangements with Jared's mom and sister, so it was a busy weekend.
Somewhere in all of this I was in the middle of helping our Spokane office with campus recruiting for entry level accountants. Between juggling my normal job, training and coaching a temporary employee and covering the campus recruiting for my BFF and co-worker, I was dying of exhaustion! But it was worth it to now have seen those few folks go through the end of our interviewing process and have them receive and accept offers! And Jared made a 900 mile in state trip to Chehalis, Walla Walla and back to Spokane - the benefit of that was that he got to see Aunt Roxy and Uncle Rich in Olympia and then stay at Aunt Sherry's and see both her and Aunt Happy and Uncle Forrey. Then there was a trip to Seattle in there for additional training and a trip to Yakima and a trip to Kennewick. Followed by a weekend of hunting back at Aunt Sherry's.
Cougar football is up and going and we still have our season tickets. Unfortunately the first home game of the season was a bust for us because Jared and Ellie ended up with the flu at the tailgate, so we booked it home. Ryan had it earlier in the week, but it didn't present like the flu (one puke and he was done, no fever or any other symptoms) so we figured it was an air bubble. Ellie had the same reaction to her flu (one and done) and unfortunately Jared and I ended up with the longer end of symptoms. Jared was out for the weekend and I picked up the flu Monday night through Tuesday. The kids haven't even had the opportunity to go to any other games this year since they have all been 7 pm start times. So disappointing that we haven't and probably won't get the opportunity to do that with them this year.
Other than that we have had our fair share of colds. Poor Ellie ended up with a week long fever, followed by a week of hives associated to her cold. Ryan has had the worst phlemy cough for almost a month now! Hopefully not much longer before we are all healthy.
We're super excited for Halloween though! We've been out to Greenbluff to pick pumpkins, carved them and the kids costumes are ready. Jared will be in Pullman for the game on Halloween night and the other ladies who's men are going to the game are coming over to hang out with us.
